The School for Corporate Governance (SCG) of the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) along with Association for Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment had organized a Workshop on “Professional Excellence and Integrity at Work Place” for Fund Managers of Mutual Funds on July 24, 2019 at Mumbai.

Many household investors have invested their money with the mutual funds in the hope that the fund managers will return their investment with good returns that can be used for achieving the financial goals. Therefore, fostering an environment of trust, integrity and professionalism amongst the fund managers will lead to greater confidence, strengthen the firm’s reputation in the market place and further accelerate the growth of Mutual fund industry. With the above objective, NISM along with AMFI and CISI had organized the Workshop for Fund Managers of Mutual Funds.

Mr.M.Krishnamoorthy, Member of Faculty, NISM, welcomed the dignitaries and participants and requested the participants to take benefit of the rich experience and expertise of the faculty.

Dr V R Narasimhan, Dean, NISM, in his opening remarks, highlighted the theme of the Workshop, and also explained to the participants, through live example, about the long term benefits of adhering to high ethical standards.

Mr.M.Krishnamoorthy, Member of Faculty, NISM, shared with the participants about the system and practices being adopted by top listed companies for complying with the recent changes to SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015.

Mr.Sunil J Kadam, Registrar, NISM, in his address thanked NISM for having organized a programme, which touches upon the day-to-day activities of the fund managers. He hoped that the workshop will bring about the desired changes and will help the mutual fund industry to grow further.

This was followed by a live interactive Session by Mr.Kevin Moore, Business Director, CISI, on “Integrity at Workplace”. Mr.Moore explained the principles of ethics and integrity by posing real-life time situations to the audience, which was followed by healthy and lively debates. All the participants were provided with individual voting machines and were asked to vote on each situation.

Around 16 participants from different Mutual Funds had attended the Workshop and benefitted from the deliberations. The programme was well received and appreciated by the participants.
