Before being appointed Chief Economic Adviser in January 2022, Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran was a writer, author, teacher and consultant.

He has written a weekly Mint column for fifteen years on Tuesdays since 2007. He has co-authored four books:

– The Economics of Derivatives

He has taught at several business schools and institutes of management in India and Singapore. He was the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and a distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University.

He was one of the founders of the Aavishkaar Venture Capital Fund and the Takshashila Institution. He has served on the Academic Advisory Board of DAV Schools in Tamil Nadu and the Indian School of Public Policy.He was a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India from 2019 to 2021.

In his corporate career spanning seventeen years from 1994 to 2011, he was a Currency Economist at the Union Bank of Switzerland, Head of Research and Investment Consulting at Credit Suisse Private Banking in Asia, Head of Asia Research and Global Chief Investment Officer at Bank Julius Baer.

He was an independent Director on the Boards of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, Sundaram Fasteners, TVS Sri Chakra Tyres, Delphi TVS and Aparajitha Corporate Services

Mr Suman Bery is currently Vice Chairperson, NITI Aayog, in the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister. An experienced policy economist and research administrator, Mr Bery took over as NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson from 1 May 2022. At the time of his appointment, Mr Bery was a Global Fellow in the Asia Programme of the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington D.C.; and a non-resident fellow at Bruegel, an economic policy research institution in Brussels. He was also a member of the Board of the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, New Delhi.

From early 2012 till mid-2016, Mr Bery was Royal Dutch Shell’s global Chief Economist based in The Hague. He was also part of the senior leadership of Shell’s global scenarios group.

Before his appointment at Shell, Mr Bery served as Director-General (Chief Executive) of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) in New Delhi. In his decade leading NCAER, Mr Bery was at various times member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council; of India’s Statistical Commission; and of the Reserve Bank of India’s Technical Advisory Committee on Monetary Policy.

Prior to NCAER, Mr Bery was with the World Bank in Washington D.C., which he joined through the Young Professional Programme.  His experience on financial sector reform in Latin America led to an appointment as Special Consultant to the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India between 1992 and 1994.

His professional writing includes contributions on the political economy of reform, financial sector and banking reform, and energy trends and policy.

Ms. Madhabi Puri Buch assumed office as Chairperson of Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) with effect from March 2, 2022.

Ms. Buch has served as Whole Time Member, SEBI from April 2017 till October 2021 during which she handled various departments in SEBI.

Prior to that she had a career in financial markets and banking of around 3 decades. She served as Consultant to the New Development Bank in Shanghai, Head of the Singapore office of the Private Equity Firm, Greater Pacific Capital, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at ICICI Securities Limited and Executive Director, on the Board of ICICI Bank.  Ms. Buch also served as a non-executive director on the Boards of various companies.

Shri Ashwani Bhatia took charge as Whole Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India, in Mumbai on June 01, 2022.  Prior to this assignment, Shri Bhatia held the position of Managing Director, State Bank of India.

Shri Bhatia handles the Department of Debt and Hybrid Securities (DDHS), Corporation Finance Investigation Department (CFID), Corporation Finance Department (CFD), General Services Department (GSD), Regional Offices, PQ Cell, RTI, Board Cell and NISM.

Shri Bhatia comes with the experience of over three and a half decades in the State Bank Group where he joined as a Probationary Officer in 1985. Before becoming Managing Director in State Bank of India, Shri Bhatia served as MD & CEO, SBI Funds Management Pvt. Limited.

He has wide experience in Treasury Operations, Retail Banking, Credit, Investment Banking and Asset Management.

Shri Bhatia completed his schooling from Air Force School, Subroto Park, Delhi and did his Graduation in Physics and Mathematics from Dayalbagh University, Agra.  He is an MBA from Podar Institute of Management, Jaipur.

Mr. Ananth Narayan is currently a Whole Time Member of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), looking after Market Regulation Department (MRD), Alternative Investment Fund and Foreign Portfolio Investors Department (AFD), Enforcement, Enquiries & Adjudication Department (EAD), Office of Investor Assistance & Education (OIAE), and Department of Economic & Policy Analysis (DEPA).

Prior to this current role, Ananth has had extensive experience of academia, governance, and international banking.

Between 2018 and 2022, Ananth was an Associate Professor at S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai. He also served on several boards, including as Independent Director on SBI Capital Markets, Additional Director (appointed by RBI) on Yes Bank Ltd., Public Interest Director (appointed by SEBI) on NSE Clearing Limited.

Between 2009 and 2017, Ananth was with Standard Chartered Bank, last as Managing Director & Regional Head of Financial Markets, ASEAN and South Asia. Between 2006 & 2009, he was with Deutsche Bank, last as Managing Director, Global Rates, South Asia. Between 1993 & 2005, he was with Citigroup, last as Director, Financial Markets, South Asia.

Ananth has also served on several RBI and SEBI committees and working groups.

Ananth holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, and is a Bachelor of Technology (Electrical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Mr. Amarjeet Singh, is presently the Whole-time Member at Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). With a career spanning nearly 3 decades with SEBI, he has extensive experience in development, regulation and supervision of securities markets.

Mr. Singh has been instrumental in introducing SEBI’s reforms in both primary and secondary securities markets including areas of Initial Public Offerings, Corporate Governance, Stewardship, Financing Reporting, T+1 Settlement and Risk Management. He has led SEBI’s engagements on sustainability reporting in recent years and also the conceptualization and formation of Social Stock Exchange and its related ecosystem in India.

Mr. Singh is currently a member on the Board of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). He has represented SEBI on numerous Committees set up by Reserve Bank of India and Government of India. He was a part-time member on the Board of the National Financial Reporting Authority (2019-2022) and on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (2019-2023), set up by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He has also served on the Board of the National Institute of Securities Market.

Shri Kamlesh Chandra Varshney took charge as Whole Time Member, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai on 20^th September, 2023.  Prior to this assignment he was Joint Secretary (Tax Policy and Legislation) in the Department of Revenue.

Shri Varshney is MBA from IIM, Lucknow and is also a law graduate.  He has also worked in Merchant Navy after being trained in T.S.Rajendra.

Shri Varshney is 1990 batch Indian Revenue Service Officer who has worked in various capacities in the Income-tax Department and Finance Ministry.  He was the first Commissioner of Advance Pricing Agreement and has a distinction of rolling out APA program successfully in India.  He is on the panel of tax experts of UNDP.  He has worked for five years with tax administration of Papua New Guinea helping them   in investigation and capacity building.  Shri Varshney is recipient of the Finance Minister Award for his contribution to Indian Tax policy and Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme. Shri Varshney is a sports enthusiast and loves teaching.

Shri Varshney is handling various departments like Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department, Legal Affairs Department, Integrated Surveillance Department, Information Technology Department, Recovery & Refund Department and Special Enforcement Cell.

Dr Sanjay Bahl has four decades of experience in the ICT industry. His background includes broad and deep skills and knowledge encompassing unique experiences in technology, business, global trade, and policy in the private and public sectors along with academic, public policy and legal areas.

He was the Global Chief Security Officer (CSO) for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the CSO for Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd. He was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Hughes Tele.com (India) Ltd on secondment from TCS.

While at PT Infotimur Sistimatama, Jakarta, and CMC Ltd, New Delhi, he developed, executed and managed large complex software and turnkey projects.

As resource person for UN-APCICT, Dr. Bahl has delivered the security and privacy training module of the Academy of ICT Essentials for government leaders.

He is member of various Security committees at National and International level and a winner of various awards at international and national level.

Shri Sundararaman Ramamurthy joined BSE in Jan 2023 as MD & CEO. He has since been instrumental in leading the strategy, product advancement, regulatory relationship, and business development activities at the exchange. Prior to joining BSE, he was the MD & Chief Operations Officer in Indian arm of Bank of America (BANA) where his responsibilities included global governance and control of the banking entity and the security segment. He has an extensive, variegated stints, handling all facets of running an exchange business in India, with 20 years at NSE, where he was responsible for its significant transformation including hands-on involvement with derivatives, index & data business, and running of its clearing corporation. He began his career with leading Banks – IDBI, State Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank. Due to his role in the turnaround of BSE, he has been conferred with the ‘Outstanding CEO of The Year in Capital Market-2023’ Award and “Asia Business Leader of the Year – 2023”. Under his leadership, BSE also won the prestigious “Champions of Capital Market Innovation and Efficiency Asia 2024”, by the Capital Finance International UK. He is a Cost Accountant and member of Indian Institute of Bankers along with being a Bachelor of Science.

Santanu recently completed fifteen fast-paced years as an entrepreneur and taking a ‘Grey Gap Year’ to pursue some longstanding passion projects.

Earlier as the CEO and MD of TalentSprint, he had the privilege of building a world-class team and a global upskilling platform that is recognised and respected for its coding bootcamps and deeptech programs.

Santanu has served on the Board of Directors of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), NSDL Payments Bank, Vivriti Capital, and Seeds Fincap. He currently serves on SEBI’s Advisory Committee on Fintech and Regulatory Technologies, and is an Advisor to Lok Capital, an impact investment firm. He was named a Distinguished Fellow of IDRBT in 2010 and nominated to the Champions of Change program hosted by the Prime Minister in 2017. Past stints include Senior Vice President for Global Delivery Operations and Head of Indian Operations at Virtusa Corporation, Chief Technology Officer at Boston-based Openpages and Viveca, and Research Staff Member at the prestigious IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York.

He is an author and inventor on multiple technical papers and patents, op-ed writer, and a podcast contributor.

Navneet Munot currently serves as Chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). He sits on the board of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), one of India’s oldest business chambers. Navneet also contributes to the advisory council of the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP).

Navneet is a member of the Board of the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).

He chairs SEBI’s ESG Committee and participates in several other SEBI committees. Additionally, he serves on the Governance Committee for the Corporate Debt Market Development Fund (CDMDF), managed by SBI Funds Management Limited, and holds key roles on various committees at the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).

Navneet is actively engaged with the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) of the Indian Cancer Society (ICS), a leading NGO focused on cancer awareness, detection, treatment, and support in India.

Radhika Gupta is a transformative young leader in the Indian financial landscape. Her career, particularly her tenure at Edelweiss, has been transformative and significantly impactful on the asset management sector. She has been a shark on the business reality TV show Shark Tank India season -3 show on SonyLIV in 2024. Professional Metamorphosis Radhika’s professional voyage commenced with technology giant Microsoft, transitioned to consulting at McKinsey, and further evolved in the finance domain at AQR Capital Management. Nilesh lead his team to the Best Fund House of the Year Award at all the mutual funds where he has worked viz. Kotak, ICICI Prudential and Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund. Nilesh is a part time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. He is a part time member of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). He is a member of the Board of Association of Mutual Funds in India and a Member of CoBoSAC committee of SEBI.

Amit Chandra is Chairperson and was a founding member of Bain Capital’s Mumbai office. He was also member of the Asian Pacific leadership team for over a decade. Before joining Bain Capital, he spent most of his professional career at DSP Merrill Lynch, overseeing the Global Markets & Investment Banking business, and retired as its Board Member and seniormost MD. Amit has served on the board of many corporates, including Tata Sons, Genpact, L&T Finance, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Piramal Enterprises, and Tata Investment Corporation.

Amit has been active in the social sector for over 25 years and alongside his wife Archana and friend Anuj Bhagwati, founded ATECF. He was awarded the Padma Shri award by the President of India in 2015 and the

Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2008.

Mohan was previously a Board Member and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Infosys over 17 years, an Investment Committee Member of the SIDBI India Aspiration Fund and the INR 10,000 Cr (USD 1.8 Billion) India Fund of Funds, a Board Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), a Member of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India and the Ascendas Property Fund— the Trustee-Manager of Ascendas India Trust, Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation, Governing Council Member of the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) promoted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Chairman of the FICCI Skills Committee and Higher Education Committee, President of the All India Management Association (AIMA), and Founder-Trustee of the Akshaya Patra Foundation.

Mr. Sanjeev Nautiyal has taken charge as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank effective from July 01, 2024. He is a banker with over three decades of extensive strategic domain expertise in Retail, SME, Financial Inclusion, Operations, HR, International Banking and Treasury. He has earlier held significant roles as Deputy Managing Director, Financial Inclusion & Micro Markets, SBI and MD & CEO, SBI Life Insurance. He served as an Independent Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India and as an advisor in various organisations. Mr. Nautiyal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

Having embarked on his journey in the development sector by living and working for several years among remote forest based tribal communities in the southern Indian district of Mysuru, Dr. R Balasubramaniam (Balu) is a widely respected development activist, leadership trainer, thinker and writer.

He is the Member-HR in the Capacity Building Commission of the Government of India and also the Chairman of the Social Stock Exchange Advisory Committee set up by SEBI.

At the age of 19, he founded the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement based on the principles of Ahimsa, Satya, Seva and Tyaga.  He has spent more than three decades of his life in the service of the rural and tribal poor in the forests of India. He is also the Founder of Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement, a public policy thinktank in India.

Dr Balu embodies a rare blend of grassroots and macro perspectives and policy through his multi-faceted experience of more than three decades.  He is a Tata Scholar, a Mason Fellow of the Harvard Kennedy School and a Fellow at the Hauser Center for Civil Society, Harvard University. He is a former Rhodes Professor.  He was the Head and Visiting Professor of the Vivekananda Chair, University of Mysore twice.

He is a regular columnist in national dailies and has authored nine books, both in Kannada and English.

Srinivas Jain has over 30 years of experience in financial services, with around 25 years dedicated to Investment Management Industry. He has been with SBI Funds Management since 2001, previously working with Birla Sunlife Asset Management Company and Kotak Securities Ltd.

As the Executive Director and Chief of Strategy, Digital & Technology at SBI Funds Management, Srinivas is responsible for the overall strategy of the organization. He spearheads initiatives in sustainability, digital transformation, and technology.

Srinivas is renowned for his deep knowledge of the investment management industry, strong leadership skills, and influential advocacy work. He actively contributes to numerous events focused on personal finance, sustainable investing, fintech, and indexing. His strategic vision and ability to drive digital transformation have significantly impacted the industry. He is featured among the top 25 marketers in the coffee table book “The Inspiration Code.” In 2023, he was recognized as a top CX leader at the Global CX Summit.

Mihir Vora has a career spanning over three decades in investing.

He has a proven track record across various asset classes including equity, fixed income, real estate, and alternatives. Before joining TRUST Mutual Fund, Mihir held the position of Senior Director & Chief Investment Officer at Max Life Insurance. He has also held senior roles as Head – Equities, Fund Manager and CIO at notable financial institutions such as SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, HSBC Mutual Fund, ABN AMRO Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

Mihir is known for building high-performing investment teams across mutual funds, sovereign wealth fund and insurance. His expertise covers a broad range of investment mandates, including large-cap, mid-cap, sectoral, and thematic strategies. Mihir is a mechanical engineer and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute, USA

Saurabh was the co-founder of Clear Capital and in 2007 he was rated by the Extel Survey as one of the top small cap analysts in the UK.  In India, Saurabh was rated as the leading equity strategist in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by the Asiamoney polls. Prior to setting up Marcellus, Saurabh was the CEO of Ambit Capital.

Saurabh is a CFA charter holder and a SEBI registered investment advisor. A highly respected expert and media columnist on global and Indian macroeconomic trends, he joined Axis in May 2023 after a long and distinguished two-decade career at Credit Suisse, where he was Co-Head of Asia Pacific Strategy and the India Strategist. He is a part-time member of the Indian Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council as well as part-time Chairman of UIDAI (Aadhaar) and a part-time member of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Dr. Venkatesh Panchapagesan has more than 25 years of experience in academia and in the global financial services industry, after finishing his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Southern California. Prior to joining IIMB in September 2011, he was with the world’s largest hedge fund, Bridgewater Associates, where he led efforts to revamp trading analytical infrastructure. He also worked with Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York between 2005 and 2008 overseeing trading research for their quantitative hedge funds. Before joining Wall Street, he was a Finance Professor at the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis from 1998 to 2005 and has published in top peer-reviewed global academic and practitioner journals. He was also invited to be the NASDAQ stock market’s visiting economist between 2002-03. Aside from his academic responsibilities, he is also an independent director and consults for a few Indian companies. He has been a member of several government committees and was a member of the Governing Council of CAFRAL, RBI’s research think tank, between 2017-20. He was India’s sole academic representative on the advisory committee for World Economic Forum’s Initiative on Real Estate in 2015-16.

Hitendra Dave has been the Chief Executive Officer for HSBC India, effective from June 2021. Prior to taking on this role, Hitendra was the Head of Global Banking & Markets where his span of responsibilities included Corporate Banking, Financial Institutions, Debt and Equity, Capital Markets, Global Markets and the custody business. Amongst the more visible figures in India’s banking industry, Dave is a senior banker and highly respected for his understanding and views on macro economy, corporate developments and financial markets. A member of various advisory committees including RBI’s and SEBI’s consultative Committees, Dave is a well recognized figure amongst India Inc. and policy makers. Dave joined HSBC India in 2001 and since, has held several senior positions across roles including being Head of Global Markets and later as the Head of Global Banking and Markets for HSBC in India. He has more than 30 years of work experience in the Indian Financial Markets.

Amit has 25 years of experience in Capital Markets. He has been with NIMF for around 20 years. He has successfully managed various fixed income and hybrid funds which have been recognized for superior performance both nationally and internationally. In his current role as CIO- Fixed Income, he leads a team of 20 highly motivated and experienced fixed income professionals.

Harsh Jain is co-founder and COO at Groww.

With over 15 years of experience in building and scaling businesses, Harsh is a seasoned leader and entrepreneur. He has also led consumer products in India and USA, including Flipkart, where he met other Groww founders.

Dr. Kailash Nadh has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence & Computational Linguistics from the Middlesex university. He has been the CTO at Zerodha since 2013, where he co-founded its tech arm.
He has been a hobbyist software developer for close to two decades and writes codes every day, building technology at Zerodha, and building and contributing to open source projects. He co-founded and volunteers at the FOSS United Foundation, a non-profit that promotes the open source software ecosystem in India, and Rainmatter, an initiative that works on climate change projects.
