NISM/Certification/Series-XII: SMF/2020/01 dated November 12, 2020
This is with reference to NISM/Certification/NMD/Series-XII: SMF/2013/01 dated March 1, 2013, specifying that NISM-Series-XII: Securities Markets Foundation Certification Examination is for entry level professionals, who wish to make a career in the securities markets. This certification examination will also be useful to all those individuals who are interested in acquiring a basic knowledge of the Indian Securities markets, including:
• Entry level professionals in the securities markets
• Employees of intermediaries functioning in the securities industry
• Professionals in other industries interested in gaining knowledge of the securities markets
• Students
• Homemakers
• Teachers
The examination is being offered to the candidates since March 21, 2013 and has been updated yearly for product and regulatory changes. In order to incorporate market and regulatory changes, NISM has updated the NISM-Series-XII: Securities Markets Foundation Certification Examination. The updated NISM-Series-XII: Securities Markets Foundation Certification Examination will be launched with effect from December 15, 2020.
The NISM-Series-XII: Securities Markets Foundation Certification Examination with its current content (as per the existing test objective and workbook) will be available to the candidates till December 14, 2020 and will be replaced by the updated examination (as per the revised test objectives and workbook) from December 15, 2020.

Details of the updated NISM-Series-XII: Securities Markets Foundation Certification Examination are given in Annexure-I and Annexure-II of this communiqué/press release.
