1. Am I eligible for NISM CPE?

Any person holding a certificate for clearing the NISM or AMFI certification examination/ AMFI refresher course/ NISM CPE, as per SEBI mandate, and where the validity of such certificate has not expired may appear for CPE. Please note that such persons can appear mandated two days NISM CPE within a period of 12 months preceding the date of expiry of the said certificate.

Further, persons

(i) of age 50 years or above; or

(ii) who have experience of 10 years or more in selling / distribution of mutual funds;

 As on May 31, 2010 may appear for NISM CPE.

2. My certificate has expired but my ARN is still valid. Can I appear for NISM CPE?

No, you need to appear for NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination since validity of AMFI Certificate is recognized. For details click here.

3. When should I register?

You must register at least 12 months preceding the date of expiry of your AMFI exam certificate / Refresher course certificate in order to ensure that you get a seat in your possibly preferred location. Registration requests received one week prior to expiry of the certificate may not be feasible to be entertained. Please note that since there are limited seats for every CPE, you are advised to avail of the opportunity of registering it early so as to secure a seat. Otherwise, such distributors will have to appear for NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination.

5. What is to be done after I register via email or call?

We keep gathering interests from distributors like you for various cities and at intervals of every two weeks, we arrange for a CPE in a location that will be suitable for most of the distributors from a region. Based on your collective requests and preferences, the CPE venue and dates are finalized by us and then we send you the seat confirmation with all the relevant details.

6. What if there are very few other distributors from my preferred location?

In that case, you may choose the nearest city, suiting your convenience where the venue is finalized.  If you are based in non-metro cities, while putting in your request, you may like to mention the cities in order of your preference that are close by.

7. What if the CPE date and/or venue do not suit me?

As there is a window of 12 months available, you may wish to wait for another CPE to be announced within such time and at allocation of your choice/s.  However, since it is a regulatory requirement, it will be in your interest to comply with it as early as possible.  While NISM makes best endeavours to offer the convenient venue and preferred dates, it may not be feasible all the time where another CPE will be available in the same area during short span of time, as it is normally based on demand received from a particular area.

8. I am a senior citizen. How can I obtain a fresh certificate?

If you are born before May 31, 1960, you may obtain a fresh certificate for Mutual Fund Distributors by either;

1. Passing  the NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination

Or

2. Successfully completing the  NISM CPE for Mutual Fund Distributors

9. I have been working as a distributor in the industry for a long time. How can I obtain a fresh certificate?

If you have 10 years of relevant work experience in the Mutual Fund industry as on May 31, 2010, you may obtain a fresh certificate for Mutual Fund Distributors by either;

1. Passing  the NISM-Series-V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination

or

2. Successfully completing the  NISM CPE for Mutual Fund Distributors

10. What are the documents required at the Venue?

Documents to carry to the venue:

  1. Duly Filled Registration Form(Download Day-1 ,Download Day-2)
  2. ARN Card (Original + Photocopy)
  3. Current Certificate (AMFI/IICM/CIEL) (Original + Photocopy)
  4. PAN Card

Please note: PAN card and current certificate are mandatory.

  5.  Two passport size photographs for each day.

  6.  DD of amount Rs 1700/- per day in case you opt for two consecutive days, otherwise Rs.1800/- per day, in favour of ‘National Institute of Securities      

       Markets’ payable at par Mumbai.

11. I have lost my certificate/ PAN. How can I appear for NISM CPE?

If you produce a clear Xerox copy where the photo on the certificate can be verified properly, you will be allowed to appear for the CPE.

If you do not have a good photocopy, please apply with the original issuing authority for issue of duplicate certificate/ PAN. Please note that NISM can issue duplicate certificates only if the certificate was issued by NISM in the first place. Once you receive the duplicate, you can submit the documents by email.

12. I have appeared for the CPE but I have not submitted my documents. Where can I email them to?

13. When do I get my certificate?

As there is a process involved in verification of various details to give clearance for printing of certificates, as also process in printing and eventually dispatching them to those who appeared for the CPE Program, it is expected to take about 22 days time from the CPE date.  We will send you an email giving the dispatch details once the certificate is dispatched.  If you do not receive the certificate within four days from receiving our email, please call us immediately at (022) 6673 5100-05 or on email - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 14. I have misplaced my CPE certificate. How do I apply for a duplicate certificate?

Please note that we issue duplicate CPE certificates only to candidates for whom the certificate was issued by NISM on attending NISM CPE Program for Mutual Fund Distributors. In case you have misplaced certificates issued by any other organization, you need to contact them.

15. I have not yet received my certificate. How can I get the courier details?

Please note that we will send an email to you when your certificate is dispatched, if you have provided us with the correct email id.  Please wait for at least four days after receiving this email from us, for the courier to reach you. Couriers to interiors may take longer time. 16. What are the revised MFD CPE requirements? When do they come into effect?

For revised CPE MFD requirements please click here . The revised CPE Program is effective from June 1, 2012.

17. From which date my new CPE certificate will be valid?

Eventhough a candidate can take up CPE programme 12 months prior to certificate validity date. The new validity date is extended for 3 years from next day of expiry of exisiting certificate. Example: If certificate validity is upto 31st Dece. 2012, then after successfully completion of 2 day CPE programme on or before 31st Dece. 2012, then certificate will be revalidated for 3 years from 1 Jan. 2013.
